Candle Care

A little care goes a long way. Treat your candle kindly and it will reward you with hours of clean, even, beautifully scented burning.

The First Burn

The first light matters most. Let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the jar before you blow it out, which usually takes a couple of hours. This sets an even pool and is the single best way to prevent tunnelling later on.

Soy wax has a memory, so that first even pool teaches the candle how to burn for the rest of its life.

Trim the Wick

Before every burn, trim the wick to about 5mm. A trimmed wick gives a smaller, steadier flame, less soot, and a cleaner burn. Let the candle cool and set fully before you trim or relight.

Burning Safely

Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it away from draughts, children and pets. Always burn on a heat-resistant surface, and do not burn for more than four hours at a time.

Stop burning once about 1cm of wax remains in the base, to protect both the glass and your surface.

Wax Melts & Diffusers

For wax melts, pop a cube into your burner and enjoy. There is no flame to tend, simply refresh the wax once the scent fades. For reed diffusers, turn the reeds every few days to revive the fragrance, and handle the oil with care as it can mark surfaces.

Reusing Your Jar

Our amber glass is made to be kept. Once the candle is finished, warm out the last of the wax, wash the jar in warm soapy water, and give it a second life as a little vessel for flowers, brushes or trinkets.
